It’s been two weeks since the Pittsburgh Pirates acquired former top prospect Jhostynxon Garcia from the Boston Red Sox in an exciting five-player trade. On Wednesday, Garcia shared a message for both Red Sox and Pirates fans with an emotional Instagram post.
The classy post featured a slideshow of seven pictures, one for each of Garcia’s stops with Boston’s organization. He joined the franchise at age 16 in 2019 and worked his way up to the Major Leagues, making his MLB debut in 2025.
The 23-year-old Venezuela native also included a lengthy caption in both English and Spanish, thanking the Red Sox and their fans for their support.
“Thank you to the Boston Red Sox organization and the fans for believing in me since I was a kid from Venezuela chasing a dream. Your support helped shape the player and the man I am today, and I’ll always be grateful for the opportunity to wear that uniform,” Garcia wrote.

“The Password” also expressed excitement for the next phase of his career with the Pirates, where he’ll look to break out and earn an everyday role after appearing in just five games for Boston last season. Pittsburgh is hoping Garcia can help anchor its lineup for the foreseeable future.
“Now it’s time for the next chapter,” Garcia continued. “I’m excited to join the Pittsburgh Pirates and get to work. New city, new colors, new goals — and yes, a new password. I’m all in on helping bring a World Series back to Pittsburgh. Let’s get to work.”
