The Pittsburgh Steelers are looking into adding some reinforcements…
Pittsburgh hosted a tryout that involved four players on Wednesday: linebacker Ronnie Perkins, linebacker Oshane Ximines, linebacker Casey Toohill and linebacker Isaiah Thomas.
Perkins, 26, has only ever appeared in five career games — all with the Denver Broncos — despite being selected by the New England Patriots in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Ximines, 29, had an impressive stint with the New York Giants, with whom he became a core special teams player and finished his rookie contract before signing with New England. Ximines suffered a season-ending injury in 2024, and has since been looking for his next home.
Toohill, 29, has bounced around since entering the league as a seventh-round pick in 2020, spending time with the Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Commanders and Buffalo Bills. Thomas, 27, has a similar story, having spent time with the Cleveland Browns, Cincinnati Bengals and Detroit Lions since entering the league as a seventh-round pick in 2022.
The Steelers need all the help they can get, as T.J. Watt (linebacker) and Nick Herbig (hamstring) both missed practice on Wednesday.

Watt underwent successful surgery to stabilize and repair a partially collapsed lung that was suffered during a dry needling treatment session at the facility last Wednesday, and is expected to be sidelined through the week. Herbig suffered his injury during Monday’s victory over the Miami Dolphins.
