Colin Cowherd Pours Cold Water On Steelers After Massive Win Vs. Dolphins

Cowherd's still not buying Pittsburgh's success

The Pittsburgh Steelers are flying high this week coming off back-to-back wins over the Baltimore Ravens and Miami Dolphins. They’re now 8-6 and lead the Ravens by one game in the AFC North with three games to play.

While Steelers fans are starting to feel optimistic and believe in their team again, Colin Cowherd isn’t buying it. He’s been a vocal critic of Pittsburgh all season, and he continued to dismiss its success after Monday’s 28-15 victory over the Dolphins.

“As I’m watching them beat lifeless Miami, the downside is they’re currently drafting 20th and they have a stopgap at quarterback, no long-term solution, and they don’t have any assets to trade up,” Cowherd said, naming all the old players on the Steelers’ roster. “It feels good, it’s a candy rush. But it’s Groundhog Day. Stopgap at quarterback, barely above .500, rinse and repeat, and that’s where we are.”

Cowherd remains unimpressed by Pittsburgh’s streak of non-losing seasons and historic success on Monday Night Football, neither of which helps win championships.

“I feel like the Steeler model is what I have a problem with. They care about two things that just don’t matter to people with high standards,” Cowherd added. “How about winning in January? It’s been a while.”

Cowherd acknowledged that while Aaron Rodgers has been a great short-term solution for the Steelers, he’s not capable of fixing the franchise’s larger issues, such as spending too much money on defense and not investing enough in the offense.

Pittsburgh hasn’t won a playoff game in over eight years. If Rodgers doesn’t change that, then not much else matters.
