Aaron Rodgers Weighs In On T.J. Watt’s Scary Lung Injury

Watt was hospitalized after suffering a lung injury

The Pittsburgh Steelers had some of the wind taken out of their sails on Thursday when the team announced that superstar linebacker T.J. Watt had been hospitalized due to a lung injury. Watt’s status for the team’s Week 15 action seems to be up in the air as a result of injury, and on Thursday, Aaron Rodgers opted to weigh in on the situation.

Pittsburgh revealed that Watt suffered a lung-related injury while receiving treatment at the team’s facility on Wednesday. Besides that, not much is known about Watt’s injury or his status. Despite that, Rodgers sounded optimistic when discussing whether or not he believes Watt will be able to take the field for the Steelers’ next game.

“I haven’t talked to T.J., but I would never bet against anybody in the Watt family of being able to deal with something small or large and getting back on the field as quickly as possible,” Rodgers said on Thursday.

While Pittsburgh’s defense hasn’t always played up to par this season, Watt has been his typical dominant self to this point. He’s played in all 13 of the team’s games so far, racking up 53 tackles, seven sacks, one interception, seven pass deflections and three fumbles forced.

If Watt has to miss any time, even if it’s just one game, that would be a huge blow for the Steelers’ defense. The good news is that Watt has an extra day to get himself ready to take the field, as Pittsburgh will square off against the Miami Dolphins on Monday Night Football in Week 15.
