Aaron Rodgers Sends Message To Media On Mike Tomlin After Steelers Win

The talk around Tomlin may change

Aaron Rodgers hopes the Mike Tomlin chatter will subside after the Pittsburgh Steelers earned a crucial Week 14 win over the Baltimore Ravens.

Following days of discourse over Tomlin’s job security, the long-running head coach guided the Steelers to a 27-22 victory over the Baltimore Ravens. Conversations about his future could make way for talks about Pittsburgh’s playoff prospects now that the club leads the AFC North at 7-6.

A reporter asked Rodgers about the significance of Sunday’s win after a week of unflattering analysis around Tomlin. The 42-year-old quarterback responded with a biting quip toward the media, per Chris Adamski of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

“It means maybe you guys will shut the hell up for a week,” Rodgers said.

Steelers linebacker Patrick Queen downplayed the Tomlin talk as a public narrative that the team ignored entering Sunday’s rivalry game.

“Media is gonna do stuff like that,” Queen said. “Any guy in the building can care less. It’s a brotherhood, it’s a family. We got each other’s back. All we care about is in the building.”

Tomlin took one step closer to finishing his 19th straight season without a losing record on Sunday. More importantly, the Steelers broke a division stalemate with Baltimore behind 284 passing yards, a passing touchdown and a rushing score from Rodgers.

The win also gave Tomlin his 22nd victory over John Harbaugh, the most head-to-head wins by any head coach in the Super Bowl era.
