Everyone is weighing in on Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin these days, from fans and media members to former players and current players. Given the Steelers’ poor performance lately, many are calling for Tomlin to be fired.
Earlier this week, Ben Roethlisberger chimed in. “Maybe it’s a clean house time,” he said on his “Footbahlin” podcast, adding that a “fresh start” could be good for both sides.
Not surprisingly, radio host Colin Cowherd agrees with him. Cowherd’s been particularly vocal about Pittsburgh’s struggles in recent weeks and believes Tomlin needs to go.
“I mean, come on. It’s time,” Cowherd said on his show “The Herd” this week. “This has been like a seven-year leaky roof, and Pittsburgh just keeps putting buckets all over the living room and kitchen…NFL coach is not a Supreme Court justice. It’s not a lifetime appointment…Fix the roof.”

Cowherd added that the Steelers look outdated on both sides of the ball, which reflects their out-of-touch coach. He wants to see them replace Tomlin with a younger, more offensive-minded head coach who understands the modern game.
That won’t fix Pittsburgh’s aging roster or quarterback woes, but it would at least get the team moving in the right direction. Because right now, Tomlin appears to be part of the problem, not the solution.
