Colin Cowherd Takes Hard Stance On Steelers’ Mike Tomlin Debate

Cowherd's seen enough of Tomlin

Radio host Colin Cowherd has been tough on the Pittsburgh Steelers this season, especially Mike Tomlin. Last week, he roasted Tomlin’s streak of no losing records with the Steelers, calling it “just an arbitrary number.”

Not surprisingly, Cowherd was at it again this week following Pittsburgh’s ugly home loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, which inspired “Fire Tomlin” chants from Steelers fans during the second half.

Cowherd agrees with them and believes it’s time for Pittsburgh to move on from Tomlin, who’s behind the times and no longer appears equipped to turn the Steelers around.

“I feel like, the last eight years, the Steelers are the exact same team,” Cowherd said, pointing out their recent track record of hot starts, cold finishes and slightly above .500 records.

Changing personnel and coordinators won’t help, Cowherd says, if Tomlin remains in charge.

“The guy in charge, Mike Tomlin, is tone-deaf to offense,” Cowherd said. “NFL head coaches have gotten younger, smarter and more offensive. And these older defensive guys…they feel outdated.”

Cowherd also criticized Pittsburgh’s roster, calling it old and expensive.

“On defense, they’re old. The Steelers are expensive,” Cowherd said. “They’re past their prime, they’re paying a fortune for it. They got gray beards on offense and on defense.”

Pittsburgh needs to get younger and start playing modern football, and that starts with Tomlin. He’s set in his ways after two decades of coaching, and his inability to adjust and keep up with the league has caused the Steelers to fall behind.
