Aaron Rodgers is set to play through an injury that is reportedly even more severe than initially believed.
After missing one game due to a fractured left wrist, Rodgers will return to lead the Pittsburgh Steelers into a pivotal Week 13 contest against the Buffalo Bills. The 41-year-old quarterback certainly isn’t back to 100 percent on Sunday.
Rodgers has “at least three fractures” in his injured wrist, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. The insider described one as “a more consequential break that can only happen with significant force.”
“Aaron Rodgers was already a respected figure in the Pittsburgh locker room. But the way he’s handled his injury has earned him even more respect,” Rapoport said on Sunday morning. “Not one, but at least three fractures. But because none are displaced, and because pain tolerance isn’t an issue, he can go.”
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin called Rodgers “all systems go” for Sunday’s game after he participated fully in Friday’s practice. The four-time MVP returns after watching Pittsburgh drop a 31-28 loss to his former rival, the Chicago Bears.

Rodgers didn’t transfer ownership of the Bears to Mason Rudolph, who completed 24 of 31 passes for 171 yards, a touchdown, an interception and a lost fumble. The Steelers nevertheless regained control of the AFC North when the Cincinnati Bengals upset the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday, and they can maintain sole possession of first place by beating the Bills at Acrisure Stadium.
Sunday’s game between the Steelers and Bills starts at 4:25 p.m. ET on CBS.
