The Pittsburgh Steelers have been struggling as of late, and they need to get back on track soon, or else they could be at risk of missing the playoffs entirely. Thankfully, head coach Mike Tomlin made it clear that the team is expecting to get one of its key players back for its big upcoming game.
While the Steelers lost in Week 12, it wasn’t a blowout, as they suffered a 31-28 defeat at the hands of the Chicago Bears. They did that without starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who suffered a broken left wrist in Week 11. After missing one game, though, Rodgers has been trending towards playing on Sunday, and Tomlin confirmed that Rodgers will be under center for Pittsburgh.
“He was a full participant today with no designation for the game. So, it’s all systems go,” Tomlin said of Rodgers on Friday.
The return of Rodgers could not come at a better time for the Steelers. For much of the season, the Steelers have had control of the AFC North division, but that changed thanks to their Week 12 loss and the Baltimore Ravens’ win over the New York Jets. However, the Ravens just lost to the Cincinnati Bengals on Thanksgiving, so the door is open for Pittsburgh once again.
The problem for the Steelers is that they have a tough matchup against the Buffalo Bills on their hands this weekend. The Bills have also been struggling recently, so they will be just as desperate to get back in the win column on Sunday. Kickoff for this very important contest is scheduled for 4:25 p.m. ET.
