The Pittsburgh Steelers failed to address their No. 2 wide receiver role at this season’s NFL trade deadline, and now they will need to look for one in 2026.
Pittsburgh could address the receiver position early in the 2026 NFL Draft, and there are a handful of top receivers that could be available when the Steelers likely pick somewhere in the middle to late first round.
CBS Sports NFL writer Blake Brockermeyer published a mock draft on Tuesday, with the Steelers taking Ohio State wide receiver Carnell Tate in the first round.
“Tate is a savvy and experienced route runner who plays beyond his years,” Brockermeyer wrote. “He demonstrates excellent spatial awareness and dependable hands, projecting as the next OSU receiver to make an immediate impact in the NFL.”
The 20-year-old receiver has 39 receptions for 711 yards and seven touchdowns in eight games this season. However, an injury kept Tate out of the last three Ohio State games, so that is something to monitor for the rest of the season and possibly during the draft process.

Ohio State will face Michigan on Saturday, and it’s to be seen if Tate will take the field during the contest or miss his fourth straight game.
