Mike Tomlin Shares ‘Great Optimism’ On Aaron Rodgers’ Status For Steelers In Week 13

'Aaron obviously worked his tail off'

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin is optimistic that Aaron Rodgers will return on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills.

Rodgers was inactive in Week 12 due to a left wrist injury, but the hope was that he would be back for Week 13. On Tuesday, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said he’s “optimistic” that Rodgers will be the starting quarterback on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills.

“Aaron obviously worked his tail off to get to us last week,” Tomlin said to reporters on Tuesday. “We’ll start this week with great optimism, although we’ll certainly limit him in the early portions of the week, providing the quarterbacks opportunity while preserving him.

“I feel comfortable with the general trajectory, but I’ll keep you updated on his level of participation and quality of his participation over the course of the week will be the greatest indicator.”

With Rodgers out of the lineup, the Steelers started Mason Rudolph in Week 12 against the Chicago Bears. Rudolph went 24-of-31 for 171 yards, a touchdown, and an interception in Pittsburgh’s 31-28 road loss to fall to 6-5 on the season.
