The Pittsburgh Steelers cruised to a 34-12 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 11, and one of the more prominent contributors in this game was third-year tight end Darnell Washington. Washington had four catches for 67 yards, and he had one of the highlights of the week when he viciously stiff-armed a pair of Bengals defenders on his way to a 31-yard gain.
Washington is one of the biggest tight ends in the league, and his mobility for his size has made him a bit of a phenomenon across the league. During a recent appearance on the “St. Brown Podcast,” Washington was questioned about his weight, and he ended up revealing that he weighs 311 pounds.
“Imma keep it a buck, I’m 311 (pounds),” Washington said on the “St. Brown Podcast.”
Washington is listed at 6’7, 264 pounds, so the fact that he weighs nearly 50 pounds more than his listed weight is quite a surprise. Beyond that, the fact that Washington can go out and make the sorts of plays he makes at the tight end position has somehow become even more impressive than it already was.
Getting snaps in a crowded tight end room that also features Jonnu Smith and Pat Freiermuth isn’t always a given, but Washington’s unique physical build makes him a tough player to defend. After his big game against the Bengals, it will be worth seeing if Washington earns more snaps in Week 12 when the Steelers take on the Chicago Bears.
