Pittsburgh Steelers rookie quarterback Will Howard hasn’t seen any action this season due to a hand injury that he suffered during the preseason.
However, Pittsburgh opened Howard’s 21-day practice window a few weeks ago, and on Wednesday, the Steelers activated him off the Reserve/Injured List to the 53-man roster.
Although Howard hasn’t been able to play this season, he’s been learning how to perform at the NFL level by observing starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
“I literally have a Word document of notes that I get from Aaron every day,” Howard said on Thursday, via 93.7 The Fan. “If there’s something that he tells me that he says in meetings, I just try to write it down.”
The Steelers utilized the 185th overall pick to select Howard this past April, and he could have been the starting quarterback for the Steelers this season before Rodgers signed in early June.

Howard understands what it takes to be a championship-winning quarterback, leading Ohio State to a national title last season. With Rodgers turning 42 next month, this could be his final season, which means Howard could become Pittsburgh’s starter next season.
