The Pittsburgh Steelers weren’t given much of a shot heading into their Week 9 matchup with the Indianapolis Colts, but they ended up delivering one of the biggest upsets of the season, as they handed the Colts a 27-20 defeat. Everybody played a big role in this win, but one guy who stepped up in a big way was Payton Wilson, which led to a hilarious reaction from DeShon Elliott.
Taking down Indianapolis was always going to be tough for Pittsburgh, but the team was dealing with some injuries throughout the week that made the task even more difficult. Elliott was among the players who missed this game, as he ended up on injured reserve after suffering a knee injury in the Steelers’ Week 8 loss to the Green Bay Packers.
Another key defender who missed this one was Cole Holcomb, as he dealt with an illness that left him stuck on the sidelines. That forced Wilson to take on a bigger role, and he responded by leading the team with 14 tackles while also picking up two pass deflections and an interception. With a breakout game in the books, Elliott shouted out Wilson in hilarious fashion on social media.
Holcomb should be back sooner rather than later, but Wilson may have just earned himself a much larger role on defense moving forward. With a big win in the books, Pittsburgh now has a 5-3 record, and it will look to keep up the positive momentum when they square off against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 10 on Sunday Night Football.
