The NFL trade deadline is on Tuesday.
The Pittsburgh Steelers were busy on Wednesday, less than one week before the deadline, acquiring safety Kyle Dugger in a trade with the New England Patriots.
They may not be done.
ESPN.com senior NFL writer Bill Barnwell broke down which teams should add or subtract from their roster ahead of Tuesday and while he grouped the Steelers in the “should take a neutral approach” category, he identified the team’s “biggest needs” as wide receiver, linebacker and cornerback.
Barnwell also listed three “notable trade candidates” on the current roster — safety Chuck Clark, running back Kaleb Johnson and wide receiver Roman Wilson.

Johnson’s inclusion is particularly interesting, given that Pittsburgh selected the 22-year-old in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft only six months ago.
The Iowa product has been an afterthought in the Steelers offense this fall, however.
Johnson enters Week 9 with just 14 carries for 36 scoreless yards and no catches on one target. He’s added eight kickoff returns for 190 yards but hasn’t been used in that department since committing a blunder in Week 2.

Johnson has played just 26 offensive snaps and 11 on special teams across four games this season and hasn’t seen the field since Week 6.
