Steelers Sign Three Players After Kyle Dugger Trade

Pittsburgh made more roster moves ahead of Week 9

The Pittsburgh Steelers find themselves on a two-game losing streak, and they are desperately trying to get themselves back on track so that they can hold onto the top spot in the AFC North division. On Tuesday night, that led to the front office trading for safety Kyle Dugger from the New England Patriots, and on Wednesday, the team signed three players to their practice squad.

With injuries beginning to pop up across the board, the Steelers’ depth is getting tested. As a result, having players on the practice squad who can suit up in a pinch is crucial, which led to the team’s latest moves. With spots on the practice squad available, Pittsburgh signed offensive lineman Jack Driscoll, safety Darrick Forrest and wide receiver John Rhys Plumlee to their team.

“We have signed OL Jack Driscoll, S Darrick Forrest, and WR John Rhys Plumlee to the practice squad,” the team announced in a post on X.

Driscoll is a five-year NFL veteran who has suited up for 67 games, 18 of which were starts, over the course of his time with the Philadelphia Eagles. Forrest spent the first four years of his career with the Washington Commanders, starting 17 of the 40 games he played in. Plumlee is a utility quarterback/wide receiver who initially broke into the league last year with the Steelers.

Driscoll and Forrest both have starting experience, which could come in handy if more injuries begin to arise for the team. Plumlee, meanwhile, is an intriguing prospect whom Pittsburgh may simply want to take a longer look at, although the chances of him suiting up for the team appear slim currently. The Steelers will be back in action against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 9.
