Writer Proposes Steelers Trade For AFC Playmaker

Pittsburgh could find its No. 2 wide receiver

The Pittsburgh Steelers offense could have a new look in the next few weeks.

NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported on Tuesday that the Steelers expect to finalize a deal with free agent wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling next week. However, the possible addition of Valdes-Scantling shouldn’t stop Pittsburgh from trying to acquire another receiver.

The Steelers should consider trading for a veteran receiver before the Nov. 4 trade deadline. Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay highlighted a few possible trade packages for Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers.

Kay wrote about the possibility that the Steelers could acquire Meyers and send a conditional 2026 5th-round pick in return.

“Meyers is the perfect complementary receiver for this veteran-laden club looking to make a last-ditch championship push with a 41-year-old quarterback at the helm,” Kay wrote on Tuesday. “If he lands with the Steelers, Meyers could slot into his natural No. 2 WR role and excel alongside top option DK Metcalf.”

The Steelers currently lack a reliable No. 2 receiver, which could create a significant problem if Metcalf misses a few games. Meyers has tallied 422 receptions for 4,921 yards and 20 touchdowns over 97 games. He has the experience to step up as a No. 1 receiver if needed, but could also thrive in the No. 2 receiving role.

Pittsburgh could consider a few potential options before the trading deadline. If the team misses out on a receiver, it may shift its focus to defensive help, especially after allowing 68 combined points in its last two games.
