Steelers’ Mike Tomlin Gives Positive DeShon Elliott Injury Update

Elliott is third on the team this season with 38 tackles

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said on Monday that safety DeShon Elliott’s knee injury that he suffered in the team’s Week 8 “Sunday Night Football” loss vs. the Green Bay Packers was “significant.”

While that still appears to be the case, Tomlin provided a slightly more optimistic update on Elliott’s situation on Tuesday.

According to a report by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Ray Fittipaldo, Tomlin said on Tuesday that the 28-year-old is week-to-week and while he’s already been ruled out for Week 9, the team hasn’t yet discussed if Elliott will be placed on injured reserve.

Elliott was carted off the field on Sunday with tears in his eyes following his injury and reports on Monday suggested that the Texas product could miss the rest of the season.

The former sixth-round pick missed Weeks 2 and 3 with a knee ailment before returning in Week 4.
