The Pittsburgh Steelers suffered a 35-25 home loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. The team also saw some key players suffer injuries.
In the loss, defensive lineman Daniel Ekuale and offensive lineman Isaac Seumalo both left the game early. Safety DeShon Elliott, meanwhile, was carted off the field and had tears in his eyes.
Following the loss, head coach Mike Tomlin spoke to reporters and gave an update on the injuries, and he called them significant.
“From a health standpoint, man, it looks like we got a couple of significant ones,” Tomlin told reporters postgame on Sunday. “Daniel (Ekuale) got a significant knee injury. DeShon Elliott’s got a knee injury as well. Isaac Seumalo has a pec strain, and so it’s what comes with playing. Obviously, we’ll assess those, and I’ll have a better update for you the next time we come together.”
Ekuale signed a one-year, $2.8 million deal with the Steelers this offseason to add more depth to the defensive line. He’s played in every game for the Steelers this season, recording six tackles.

Elliott, meanwhile, is a key part of Pittsburgh’s secondary as he recorded 108 tackles last season, which was second-most on the team. This season, in five games, he’s recorded 38 tackles, one interception, one sack, and one forced fumble.
How long all three players are out is uncertain, but Tomlin seemed worried about Ekuale and Elliott’s knee injuries.
The Steelers will host the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday in Week 9.
