Sidney Crosby Credits Tristan Jarry For Bailing Out Penguins In Win Over Panthers

Jarry stopped 34 of the 37 shots he faced

The Pittsburgh Penguins pulled off an upset road win over the reigning back-to-back Stanley Cup-champion Florida Panthers.

Although Penguins captain Sidney Crosby had two goals in the Penguins’ 5-3 win on Thursday, he credited goalie Tristan Jarry for the win. Jarry stopped 34 of the 37 shots he faced, and Crosby claimed the goalie bailed the team out to get the win.

“So many stats, I don’t really think about that,” Crosby said postgame on Thursday, about being two points away from 1,700 career points. “It is great to be in that company, and this is a big two points (against) a tough team. (Tristan) Jarry bailed us out a lot. They carried the fight in the second half of that game.”

Florida outshot Pittsburgh 37 to 16, which is why Crosby credited Jarry for the win, as he was stellar in the net.

Jarry, meanwhile, was more excited for the Penguins’ big win over the Panthers.

“It’s exciting, it’s exciting to be a part of that,” Jarry said postgame. “It’s exciting to play this team. They’re obviously a very good team. They’ve been a very good team for a long time now. Just to play well and play well against them and come out with the two points that we did, it’s good for us.”

With the win, Pittsburgh improved to 6-2 on the season. The Penguins return to the ice on Saturday at home against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
