The Pittsburgh Steelers have a potential T.J. Watt problem to monitor before their Week 8 game against the Green Bay Packers.
Pittsburgh placed Watt on Thursday’s injury report with a hip issue. The star edge rusher was a limited practice participant after receiving a veteran’s rest day on Wednesday.
Watt hasn’t missed any action since he sat out seven games with a torn pectoral muscle early in the 2022 season. The four-time All-Pro has 10 quarterback hits this season and four sacks in his last four games.
Losing Watt would obviously be a significant blow to an already struggling Steelers defense. They’re looking to bounce back from allowing 470 total yards in a 33-31 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 7.
Pittsburgh now ranks 28th in total defense, allowing 374.7 yards per game. The Steelers have surrendered 4.4 yards per carry and the league’s second-most passing yards despite tallying 22 sacks, giving them the NFL’s third-highest per-game average.

They’ll oppose a Packers squad that’s notched 27 points in each of their four victories and 40 in a Week 4 tie to the Dallas Cowboys. Aaron Rodgers’ successor, Jordan Love, has taken just 10 sacks in six games this season.
The Steelers also added wide receiver Scott Miller (finger) to Thursday’s injury report as a limited practice participant. DK Metcalf and Cam Heyward received the day off to rest but appear in no danger of missing Sunday’s game.
Zach Frazier missed practice with a calf injury sustained in last week’s loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. The starting center is optimistic that he’ll play in Week 8, per PennLive’s Nick Farabaugh.
