Steelers’ Aaron Rodgers Drops Retirement Bombshell Ahead Of Packers Showdown

Rodgers revealed which team he wants to retire with

After 18 seasons with the Green Bay Packers, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers will face them for the first time this weekend on Sunday Night Football.

It’s going to be a big moment for Rodgers, who won four NFL MVPs and a Super Bowl during his time in Green Bay. No matter what happens this season and beyond, he’ll always be a Packer.

After starting his NFL journey in Green Bay and spending most of his career there, Rodgers revealed on Thursday that he plans to end his career there as well.

“Feel so good about my time there because damn near everything great in my life is because of my football career, and my football career starts, and will end one day, with Green Bay. So got a lot of love for all those memories,” Rodgers said during his Zoom call with Packers media on Thursday.

At 41 and after 21 NFL seasons, Rodgers understandably has retirement on his mind. He knows his career his winding down and wants it to come full circle with the Packers.

Given that his successor in Green Bay, Jordan Love, is under contract through 2028, Rodgers probably doesn’t expect to start for the Packers. However, he could still go there as a backup or sign a ceremonial one-day contract to retire with them.

In the meantime, Rodgers is focused on beating them on Sunday. He spent extra time helping the Steelers’ defense prepare for Green Bay during Thursday’s practice, so he remains as competitive and dedicated as ever.
