Steelers’ Latest Quarterback Move Ahead Of Packers Clash Turns Heads

Pittsburgh's QB depth chart just got a bit lighter

The Pittsburgh Steelers are looking to bounce back in Week 8 after suffering a surprise upset defeat at the hands of the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 7. However, they are going to have their work cut out for them, as they are going up against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football.

The big storyline ahead of this game involves quarterback Aaron Rodgers taking on the team he spent the first 18 seasons of his career with. However, the Steelers ended up making another move at quarterback on Tuesday that quickly caught the attention of fans.

Pittsburgh’s depth behind Rodgers has been a topic of discussion throughout the season, largely because both Will Howard and Skylar Thompson are on injured reserve. That leaves Mason Rudolph as the lone active backup behind Rodgers, with Logan Woodside on the practice squad. However, ahead of this game, Woodside ended up getting released from the team’s practice squad.

“We have terminated QB Logan Woodside from the Practice Squad,” the team announced in a post on its official X account.

The chances of Woodside ever suiting up for the Steelers were always low, but without him, the team no longer has that extra layer of depth at quarterback that they could end up needing if something were to happen to Rodgers or Rudolph. For now, Pittsburgh will ride with these two guys on their depth chart, but it could look to find a replacement for Woodside in the near future.
