Why Steelers Need To Sign Newly Released Wide Receiver

Tyler Lockett accumulated 8,664 yards and scored 61 TDs in 168 games

The Pittsburgh Steelers should consider bringing in a veteran wide receiver before the NFL’s Nov. 4 trade deadline.

Pittsburgh might trade for a receiver, or if it’s hesitant to part with any draft capital, it could sign a current free agent instead.

Not many high-quality free agents remain available this late in the season. However, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Tennessee Titans released veteran receiver Tyler Lockett on Monday.

Lockett signed a one-year, $4 million deal with the Titans this offseason after spending ten seasons with the Seattle Seahawks.

Lockett caught only 10 passes for 70 yards over seven games this season, mainly because the Titans have struggled with one of the worst passing offenses in the NFL.

The 33-year-old wide receiver may not play at the level he reached during the peak of his career in Seattle, but he still could contribute to Pittsburgh’s receiving corps.

Lockett spent six of his ten seasons in Seattle alongside Pittsburgh’s receiver, DK Metcalf, so the two know each other’s playing styles well.

The Steelers could benefit from signing Lockett, especially since they wouldn’t have to trade anything away and could evaluate what he still has to offer.
