The Tennessee Titans fired head coach Brian Callahan on Monday and on Saturday, senior NFL insider Dianna Russini named Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith as a potential replacement.
This comes on the heels of fellow insider Ian Rapoport tabbing Smith as a possible hire for the vacancy on Tuesday as well.
“While the Titans were the first team to fire their coach, they will almost certainly not be the last,” Russini wrote. “I expect Tennessee’s early list of candidates to include: Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy, Colts defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo, Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver, Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith.”
The 43-year-old is in his second season as Pittsburgh’s offensive coordinator after spending three years as the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons. Smith led the Falcons to three consecutive 7-10 records during the 2021, 2022 and 2023 campaigns.
He has an extensive history with the Titans, working with the team for 10 years before joining Atlanta.

Smith served as Tennessee’s defensive quality control coach in 2011, offensive quality control coach in 2012, offensive line/tight ends coach in 2013, assistant tight ends coach in 2014 and 2015, tight ends coach from 2016-18 and offensive coordinator in 2019 and 2020.
The Steelers are currently tied for 11th in the NFL in scoring (25.0 points per game) under Smith.
