Former Rival Thinks Steelers Could Acquire Elite Wide Receiver

A.J. Brown is a three-time Pro Bowler

The Cincinnati Bengals handed the Steelers a tough loss, edging them out 33-31 on Thursday night. Throughout much of the game, Pittsburgh’s passing game was firing on all cylinders.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers leaned on his tight ends more than his receivers, connecting with Jonnu Smith, Darnell Washington and Pat Freiermuth. Together, they racked up 11 receptions for a total of 141 yards and found the end zone four times.

The tight ends have stepped up because the team lacks receiving talent aside from DK Metcalf. Former NFL receiver Chad Johnson believes that Philadelphia Eagles receiver A.J. Brown could be a trade candidate for Pittsburgh.

“I’m just throwing that out there,” Johnson said Thursday on his “Nightcap Podcast”, via Steelers Depot. “Because they’ve always been talking about trades. Where there’s smoke, there’s fire. The fact that it was even mentioned that if things don’t turn around for the Eagles, even if they win, that’s something that can happen.”

Even though the Eagles hold a 4-2 record, the offense hasn’t involved Brown much, as he’s managed just 25 receptions for 274 yards and a single touchdown.

If the Eagles decide to part ways with Brown, the Steelers could offer him an intriguing destination. Pairing Metcalf with Brown could potentially turn Pittsburgh into the most formidable offense in the AFC.
