Steelers Receive Encouraging Jalen Ramsey News Before Week 6 Game

The cornerback hurt his hamstring in Ireland

The Pittsburgh Steelers could still potentially have Jalen Ramsey available for their Week 6 matchup against the Cleveland Browns.

Ramsey injured his hamstring during a Week 4 win over the Minnesota Vikings and missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday. The star cornerback returned to practice on Friday, participating in individual drills ahead of Pittsburgh’s AFC North game.

Ramsey told reporters, per ESPN’s Brooke Pryor, that he also did some work in team reps. However, the 30-year-old is officially listed as questionable for Sunday.

“We’ll see,” Ramsey said.

The seven-time Pro Bowler acknowledged that Pittsburgh’s schedule could affect his status. The Steelers have a short week before playing the Cincinnati Bengals next Thursday night.

“Yeah, it matters,” Ramsey said.

Yet Ramsey, who played all 17 games for the Miami Dolphins last season, hopes to avoid sitting out his first action since Week 7 of the 2023 campaign.

“I never want to miss any type of playing time,” Ramsey said, per PennLive’s Nick Farabaugh. “I love the game, love to be there for my teammates, so any chance I get to help that, I’ll take the opportunities.”

The Steelers made a major offseason splash by acquiring Ramsey in a blockbuster trade that sent All-Pro safety Minkah Fitzpatrick to Miami. Ramsey recorded his 25th career interception in Week 2, but he’s allowed a 104.2 opposing passer rating as the primary defender.

Pittsburgh has permitted the league’s third-most passing yards per game (260.5) and yards per pass attempt (8.2) through a 3-1 start. With or without Ramsey, the secondary will hope to improve those numbers against the Browns in Dillon Gabriel’s second career NFL start.

Sunday’s game kicks off at 1 p.m. ET on CBS.
