The Chicago Cubs’ season will be on the line when they host the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 3 of their NLDS on Wednesday.
For the second straight week, former Pittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Jameson Taillon will be toeing the rubber in an elimination game for the Cubs as the right-hander has been announced as Chicago’s starter for Wednesday.
“Jameson Taillon will start Game 3 for the Cubs as they look to avoid elimination Wednesday at Wrigley Field,” Meghan Montemurro of The Chicago Tribune posted on Bluesky.
Taillon — who the Pirates selected with the second overall pick in the 2010 MLB Draft — pitched the first four seasons of his career in Pittsburgh from 2016 to 2019 and missed the entire 2020 campaign due to injury. He was the ace of the Pirates’ 2018 staff, finishing that year 14-10 with a career-best 3.20 ERA and career-high 179 strikeouts.

The 33-year-old Taillon was traded to the New York Yankees in January 2021 and spent two seasons in the Bronx before signing with Chicago in December 2022.
The Florida native went 11-7 with a 3.68 ERA and career-low 1.05 WHIP across 129 2/3 innings pitched covering 23 starts during the regular season. Taillon tossed four scoreless innings in the Cubs’ NL wild-card Game 3 victory against the San Diego Padres that sent them to the NLDS.
Pirates 2019 first-round pick Quinn Priester will get the start for the Brewers on Wednesday.
