The Pittsburgh Steelers have been getting terrific production from their new-look receiving room this year. D.K. Metcalf has been outstanding, Calvin Austin III has stepped up and Jaylen Warren has been tremendous out of the backfield, giving Aaron Rodgers plenty of weapons in the passing game and helping him get off to a productive start.
Meanwhile, a former Steelers star wideout is also off to a hot start this season, as George Pickens is flourishing with the Dallas Cowboys.
After three seasons with Pittsburgh, Pickens was traded to the Cowboys in May for a 2026 third-round pick and a 2027 pick swap. The 24-year-old had grown discontent and essentially pushed his way out, giving the Steelers little option but to trade him.
Unfortunately for Pittsburgh, Pickens has benefited enormously from the change of scenery and is doing even better than expected in Dallas. He developed immediate chemistry with Dak Prescott and has hit the ground running, reminding everyone why he’s considered one of the best receivers in the NFL.
Through his first five games with the Cowboys, Pickens is on pace for his best season yet. He’s caught 23 of 37 targets for 357 receiving yards and five touchdowns — already matching his career high in that category. His 71.4 receiving yards per game are also a personal best.

With at least one TD in each of his last four games, Pickens has helped pick up the slack with CeeDee Lamb (ankle) sidelined, going from a WR2 to a WR1 in his absence.
Pickens is showing what he can do when he’s properly motivated and has a good quarterback getting him the ball — something he never had with the Steelers.
