Tom Brady set a high bar for a quarterback flourishing in his 40s. Aaron Rodgers is trying to follow that path with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2025.
In his 21st NFL season, the 41-year-old Rodgers has led Pittsburgh to a 3-1 start with a 68.5 completion percentage and 102.6 quarterback rating. Brady likes what he’s seen from his iconic peer so far.
As the Steelers rest up from their recent trip to Ireland during a Week 5 bye, Brady discussed Rodgers on “FOX NFL Sunday.”
“Beyond impressed,” Brady said of Rodgers. “I think at that age, there are so many other factors that come into play about how to be a great quarterback. We all want to talk about what happens in the offseason with him, and there’s some things that are — there’s a lot of narratives out there … It’s a little different.
“What we know about him on the field is that he’s a surgical passer. He’s got a killer instinct, he’s hyper competitive and he’s brought all of that to Pittsburgh.”

Rodgers hasn’t made too many downfield plays, averaging a modest 7.5 yards per attempt. He also threw two picks in a Week 2 loss to the Seattle Seahawks before mustering 139 passing yards in a Week 3 win over Brady’s old team, the New England Patriots.
Yet the four-time MVP started his Steelers career with a four-touchdown revenge game against the New York Jets. Rodgers methodically picked apart the Minnesota Vikings in Dublin, completing 18 of 22 passes for 200 yards and a touchdown in a Week 4 win.
Rodgers took a similar journey to Brady when leaving the Green Bay Packers after 18 seasons. While Brady won a seventh Super Bowl in his first season away from New England, Rodgers tore his Achilles during his Jets debut before going 5-12 last season.
He’ll now try to follow Brady as the second-oldest quarterback to ever play in a Super Bowl. The Steelers return from their bye to play the Cleveland Browns in Week 6.
