Aaron Rodgers, Steelers Help Tie NFL Record In Week 3 Win

Lots of drama in Week 3 of the NFL!

After back-to-back rough showings, the Pittsburgh Steelers defense finally stepped up in Week 3, forcing five New England Patriots turnovers on their way to a 21-14 victory.

While the offense had an inconsistent day, Aaron Rodgers made a play when the team needed it most, hitting wideout Calvin Austin III for a game-winning 17-yard touchdown pass with 2:16 left in the fourth quarter.

With that moment, Rodgers and the Steelers helped the NFL tie a record in Week 3.

The NFL communications department noted the mark that was made heading into “Sunday Night Football” between the Kansas City Chiefs and New York Giants.

“With two games remaining in Week 3, eight games were within one score in the fourth quarter and seven games were decided by one score (eight points or fewer), all by teams — Cleveland, Jacksonville, the Los Angeles Chargers, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, San Francisco and Tampa Bay — that recorded the game-winning score in the final three minutes of the fourth quarter,” the news item read. “The seven games with a game-winning score in the final three minutes of regulation or in overtime ties for the most such games in a single week since 1970 (most recently: Week 15, 2022).”

The Steelers will look to have an easier time in earning a possible third win of the season in Week 4 when they face the Minnesota Vikings in Ireland on Sunday.
