Pittsburgh Pirates minor-league pitching prospect Brandan Bidois did something on Sunday that he hadn’t done in nearly seven weeks.
He allowed a hit.
Bidois was promoted to Triple-A Indianapolis for the first time in 2025 in mid-August and through six appearances covering 9 2/3 scoreless innings with the Indians, Bidois hadn’t surrendered a base knock until Sunday. The stretch of no-hit outings extended significantly further for the right-hander, however.
Bidios pitched one scoreless frame against the Iowa Cubs on Sunday, striking out one and facing the minimum three batters, thanks to a double play following the one hit allowed.
Prior to Sunday, he hadn’t allowed a hit since July 29, dating back to his time with Double-A Altoona.

During that time, he recorded 18 hitless innings across 11 relief appearances, each covering between three and six outs. He faced 64 hitters over the span.
The MLB record for consecutive hitless innings is 24 by Cy Young in 1904. In the modern era, just one MLB hurler has posted a longer hitless innings streak than Bidois’ minor-league stretch.
Hall of Famer Dennis Eckersley went 21 innings without allowing a hit during his 1977 All-Star season.
Pittsburgh inked Bidois to a minor-league deal in September 2019 and he gradually worked his way up to Triple-A for the first time in 2024.
