The Pittsburgh Steelers are preparing for their upcoming preseason contest against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Along the way, though, it looks like star quarterback Aaron Rodgers may have picked up an injury that the team will have to monitor over the coming days.
During the team’s practice on Tuesday, Rodgers appeared to take a knock to his calf that left him in some pain. Sure enough, a photo emerged on social media shortly thereafter showing Rodgers getting a bag of ice wrapped around his right calf, indicating that he may have picked up an injury during practice.
The good news is that Rodgers did end up returning to the field, although he was sporting a small wrap on his calf throughout the remainder of the practice. Nonetheless, this is an ailment that will be worth keeping tabs on, as the Steelers will surely be looking to play things safe with Rodgers when it comes to any sort of injury.
At 41 years old, it’s going to be extremely important for Rodgers to remain as healthy as possible throughout what is expected to be the final season of his career. While he played in all 17 games for the New York Jets in 2024, he suffered a torn Achilles tendon on just the fourth offensive snap of the 2023 season.

Aside from this minor issue, Rodgers seems to be good to go for the upcoming campaign. Pittsburgh will continue to monitor his health throughout the week, but the fact that he was able to return to the field later in the day is encouraging. Now, the team will turn its attention towards its joint practices with the Buccaneers before its next preseason contest.
