The Pittsburgh Steelers might have a problem on their hands…
Steelers defensive tackle Cam Heyward hasn’t fully participated in practice during training camp as he’s awaiting a restructured contract, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Heyward is currently slated to make $14.75 million in 2025 — with $13.45 million already being paid as a roster bonus in March — as part of a three-year, $45 million deal signed last September.
It’s looking pretty unlikely that a resolution comes anytime soon, though.
Heyward, in his first (somewhat) public comments since the negotiations became public, posted a rather cryptic message to Instagram on Friday — which cited The Joker.
“You either die a hero, or live long enough to become a villain,” the post read.

The Steelers haven’t been shy about throwing money at people this season, issuing big-money extensions to linebacker T.J. Watt and wide receiver DK Metcalf, while also making aggressive acquisitions in quarterback Aaron Rodgers, tight end Jonnu Smith and cornerback Jalen Ramsey. Pittsburgh is going all-in for a title, and will need to figure things out with its longest-tenured player in order to maximize the roster’s talent.
