Ex-Pirates Pitcher Reveals Pittsburgh-Themed Baby News After Trade

Bailey Falter has some exciting personal news

It’s been a crazy last few days for Bailey Falter.

On July 31, the left-handed pitcher was traded from the Pittsburgh Pirates to the Kansas City Royals. On Monday, he made his Royals debut against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park, although it did not go well (seven runs on eight hits in four innings).

And on Wednesday, he and his wife Kylee announced via Instagram that they are expecting their first child — a boy — in December.

The couple shared a Pirates-themed photoshoot, which was clearly done before the trade. The pictures included the couple sitting on a blanket in PNC Park’s outfield with a white cake, ultrasound pictures, a black baseball glove, a baseball, white baby shoes, a miniature Pittsburgh “Falter” jacket and a positive pregnancy test.

Kylee’s caption referenced the trade, saying, “Somethings are out of our control, this one isn’t,” followed by a bottle and baby emoji. At the bottom of the caption, she wrote, “Thanks for all the sweet memories Pittsburgh!”

Falter was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in 2015 and debuted there in 2021. He was dealt to the Pirates in 2023 and spent two calendar years in Pittsburgh before being dealt to Kansas City.

The 28-year-old lefty was in the midst of his best season yet at the time of the trade, going 7-5 with a 3.73 ERA and a 1.18 WHIP in 22 starts with the Pirates this year. Despite being under team control through 2028, he was traded to the Royals for reliever Evan Sisk and prospect Callan Moss.

While the Falters appear to miss Pittsburgh, they also seem excited for parenthood and the next chapter of their lives together in Kansas City.
