The Pittsburgh Steelers have arguably been the busiest team in the NFL over the offseason. Could there be another move for them to make before they take the field for the 2025 campaign? That question was raised by quite a few people after Micah Parsons stunned the league and requested a trade from the Dallas Cowboys.
All offseason long, Parsons has been angling for a new deal from the Cowboys. While it seemed like progress was being made at times, Parsons entered training camp without a new deal in place. While he did report to camp, he has not taken the field for practice yet, indicating that he won’t play until he has a new contract in place.
While trade rumors have swirled around Parsons as a result of his contract dispute, the overwhelming majority of fans believed that he would eventually put pen to paper on a new deal with Dallas. However, a trade suddenly seems to be a real possibility, and the Steelers could be a potential landing spot for the superstar defender.
Parsons was born and raised in Pennsylvania, and he grew up a Pittsburgh fan. Beyond that, he played locally in college, starring for the Penn State Nittany Lions before he found his way to the pros. Now that he’s gone public with his trade request, Steelers fans were quick to dig up some old comments Parsons made about potentially playing for his hometown squad.
“Yeah, I do (rock with the Steelers),” Parsons said back in February, via CBS Sports. “I said if I ever return home, it was going with Pittsburgh. I mess with Mike Tomlin the long way.”

Pittsburgh has already brought guys like Aaron Rodgers, DK Metcalf, Jalen Ramsey, and Jonnu Smith to town this offseason, while also signing another star pass rusher, T.J. Watt, to a mammoth three-year, $123 million contract extension. With that in mind, would a trade for Parsons even make sense?
When considering the Steelers’ front office’s all-in plan of attack, they have to be labeled a potential landing spot for Parsons. The Watt extension makes it nearly impossible to add another player who will be on one of the largest contracts in the league, but where there’s a will, there’s a way, and who knows, maybe Parsons could find his way back to Pittsburgh sooner than expected.
