Former Steeler Retires After Injury-Erased Season In Pittsburgh

Nate Herbig missed the 2024 campaign in Pittsburgh

Former Pittsburgh Steelers offensive lineman Nate Herbig is retiring from the NFL.

The 27-year-old, who signed with the Washington Commanders this offseason, was placed on the reserve/retired list Tuesday.

Herbig spent two seasons with the Steelers (2023-24). He played all 17 games (two starts) in 2023, but missed the 2024 season after he tore his rotator cuff.

The Stanford product entered the league as an undrafted free agent with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2019. The Commanders represented his fourth team (Eagles, Jets, Steelers).

Herbig started 30 of the 61 games he played in the NFL.
