You can make an argument that no team was busier than the Pittsburgh Steelers this offseason. After just missing out on the playoffs last year, the Steelers’ front office was hard at work upgrading their roster, and based on Fox Sports’ 2025 NFL power rankings, it’s safe to say their moves have not gone unnoticed.
Pittsburgh did its best to address every one of their needs this offseason. They signed Aaron Rodgers to be their new starting quarterback and traded for DK Metcalf and Jonnu Smith in a pair of explosive deals. Jalen Ramsey also found his way to town as part of the Smith trade, while the team also signed T.J. Watt to a massive three-year, $123 million contract extension.
Simply put, the Steelers are pushing all their chips to the center of the table for the 2025 campaign. But where do they stack up against the rest of the league? According to Ralph Vacchiano, quite well in fact, as Pittsburgh just missed out on a top-five spot, coming in at No. 6 on these power rankings.
“This team won 10 games before it faded down the stretch under Russell Wilson last season,” Vacchiano wrote when explaining his decision. “The Rodgers of old can take them to the next level. But if he looks like old Rodgers instead? Things could get ugly for everyone.”
There’s no question that the Steelers have more talent on their roster than they did last season. The main question revolves around Rodgers, as he will likely determine just how good this team ends up being. If he can simply play at a higher level than Russell Wilson did last year (which should not be hard to accomplish), Pittsburgh’s going to be dangerous.

Of course, it’s worth noting that the Steelers find themselves in a loaded AFC North division, which won’t exactly make things easy for them. However, if several of the team’s big offseason additions can make an immediate impact, it’s clear that Pittsburgh could surprise some folks in 2025.
