Pirates’ Andrew McCutchen Loves Special Uniform Combination

'It’s great to pay homage'

The Pittsburgh Pirates were looking pretty sweet on Friday.

Pittsburgh, having already announced a special jersey patch would be worn for the rest of the season to honor late Hall of Fame outfielder Dave Parker, put together an all-black uniform combination that featured a pillbox-inspired hat that pays homage to the ones the organization wore during the 1970s and 1980s.

Andrew McCutchen loves the idea.

“It’s great to pay homage, and it’s nice to be able to wear the patch and try to represent the organization as good as (Dave Parker) did,” McCutchen said, as seen on SNP.

It’s been a fashion-forward weekend across Major League Baseball, who introduced special commemorative hats that will be worn by each team across the weekend. The Pirates presumably will introduce their version on Saturday. SNP will have coverage of the entire series against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
