Steelers Reveal Bold New Throwback Uniforms

Team honors origins with retro twist for 2025

The Pittsburgh Steelers have unveiled new throwback uniforms set to debut during their Week 8 showdown against the Green Bay Packers on “Sunday Night Football.”

The look honors the team’s inaugural season in 1933 and pays tribute to the region that shaped it.

“We’re excited to unveil our new throwback uniforms which not only pay tribute to the origins of the Steelers franchise but also to the deep connection we have to our hometown of Pittsburgh,” Steelers president Art Rooney II wrote in a statement.

The jersey brings back a clean gold base with thick black stripes on the sleeves, big white block numbers outlined in black, and the City of Pittsburgh crest on the left shoulder. A matte yellow helmet with a black center stripe and gray facemask matches the retro vibe, finished off with beige pants to round out the look.

It’s a clear nod to the alternate the team wore from 2007 to 2011, with a few contemporary updates. The sleeve pattern has been tweaked slightly, and the new alternate helmet marks the first time Pittsburgh has used the NFL’s updated helmet rule since it changed in 2022.

Leading up to the release, the team teased the look on social media with the phrase “forged in Pittsburgh,” fueling speculation that the new threads would be a modern take on a classic design.
