Bryan Reynolds doesn’t appear to have any interest in leaving the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Noah Hiles of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported on Saturday that the veteran outfielder has a no-trade clause that includes the New York Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Mets, Toronto Blue Jays, San Francisco Giants and San Diego Padres.
I don’t know if you’re aware or not, but those are all big-market teams who are contending for the World Series.
Reynolds, 30, would need to waive his no-trade clause before a deal with any of those teams can be agreed upon, and is under the current contract until 2031. Reynolds is slashing .229/.294/.378 with 10 home runs, 16 doubles, 30 walks and 45 RBIs this season, so anyone willing to take on his contract would be doing so with the assumption that he’s going to turn things around.
It’s interesting to see that he’d be uninterested in those teams, specifically. Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic previously reported the two-time All-Star was also drawing serious interest from the Kansas City Royals. Pittsburgh might choose to retain the seventh-year man, but even if it doesn’t, the number of trade destinations appears to be slim.
