Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown, who spent nine seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, is wanted on attempted murder charges in Miami, according to The Associated Press, citing an arrest warrant.
Brown has been mired in legal issues since his abrupt, infamous departure from the NFL in 2021 while with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This is the most serious one yet, as Brown is alleged to have fired a gun twice at a man he had been in a physical altercation with earlier in the night. The incident took place May 16 outside an amateur boxing event.
“Police were called to the location after other patrons reported hearing shots fired,” the police report said, via The AP. “Several of them told officers Brown was the shooter, but when he was detained in the parking lot no weapon was found, but two bullet casings were located.”
Because no weapon nor the victim were found at the time, Brown was allowed to go. The victim, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, was known to Brown — who is alleged to have taken the weapon from a security guard attempting to break up the altercation.
Brown said at the time on X that he had been jumped by men trying to take his jewelry.

“I was jumped by multiple individuals who tried to steal my jewelry and cause physical harm to me. Contrary to some video circulating, Police temporarily detained me until they received my side of the story and then released me,” Brown wrote, via the New York Post.
“I WENT HOME THAT NIGHT AND WAS NOT ARRESTED,” Brown added. “I will be talking to my legal council and attorneys on pressing charges on the individuals that jumped me. I will keep you all posted step-by-step on the process. Thank you for the support and love.”
Among Brown’s other legal issues in recent years include domestic violence incidents, battery of a moving truck driver, and failure to pay child support. He claimed earlier this year that he spent all the money he earned during his 12-year NFL career and filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
