The Pittsburgh Penguins officially introduced their new head coach Dan Muse in his introductory press conference on Wednesday.
Muse sat alongside general manager Kyle Dubas where they talked for 40 minutes about his coaching plans and backstory. A question that came up early is how the new head coach will return the Penguins to the Stanley Cup Final again.
Pittsburgh currently has many veterans leading the way like Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, while young and promising players like Rutger McGroarty are trying to make their way up in the ranks.
“There’s a period of transition here but within that my approach is going to be we’re going to work throughout the entire summer,” Muse said according to the Penguin’s coverage on Wednesday. “Coaching staff is going to come together and we’re going to put together a plan for the start of the year. We’re going to put together a plan and we’re going to be talking about working with every single player here.”
With a majority of the team being veterans, Muse wants to work with them to make sure they are building towards success with the Penguins.

“You do have players that have been in this league a long time and have done great things in this league for a long time,” Muse said. “Working with those players to help them continue to take steps and at the same time we’re going to be working on the younger players.”
