Steelers Rumors: T.J. Watt Takes Stand Amid Contract Dispute

Watt won't be reporting to mandatory minicamp

The contract dispute between the Pittsburgh Steelers and star defender T.J. Watt has reached the next step.

Watt is not expected to attend Pittsburgh Steelers mandatory minicamp this week, as first reported by The Athletic’s Dianna Russini on Tuesday. ESPN’s Adam Schefter and NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport confirmed the news.

Watt, who is entering his final season under contract, is seeking a new deal. Rapoport reported there has been “no progress on a long-term deal.”

Schefter reported Watt will be subject to $104,768 in fines should he miss all three days of mandatory minicamp.

The 30-year-old Watt is a four-time All-Pro and seven-time Pro Bowler, who was named the Defensive Player of the Year in 2021. He’s finished fourth or better in voting during five of the last six seasons.
