The Pittsburgh Steelers still have no answer to their offseason-long Aaron Rodgers fiasco.
Rodgers and Pittsburgh met back on March 21, and the multi-hour visit hasn’t amounted to anything since. Speculation has grown along with the need for the Steelers to identify a starting quarterback, all while Rodgers has offered zero indication of where the 41-year-old is leaning. Retirement remains an option for the future Hall of Famer, and the entire Rodgers-Steelers saga is rumored to have triggered a unified feeling in the locker room.
“There are people in that locker room who I believe would tell you they’re already over this thing,” NFL insider Tom Pelissero told the “Rich Eisen Show” on Saturday. “They just wanna know what’s going on. And they’re sick of hearing about it, and they’re sick of being asked about it. They don’t want to discuss it anymore.”
Pittsburgh cleared the way for Rodgers to take over. The team refused to re-sign Russell Wilson and Justin Fields, who joined the New York Giants and New York Jets, respectively, and signed Mason Rudolph, a backup, to a two-year deal. They also selected Ohio State’s Will Howard in the sixth round of this year’s draft, keeping their fingers crossed in hopes that Rodgers decides to join Tomlin’s locker room.
Rodgers spent the past two years with the Jets, which went south and prompted New York to part ways.

“I have been told that he has not affirmatively told the Steelers that he’s coming,” Pelissero said. “He’s been throwing with DK Metcalf. He talks all the time with Mike Tomlin. I know he’s talked with Arthur Smith. So there’s all these signs that he’s coming, but he has not affirmatively said, ‘Hey, June 9, book me the ticket. I’m coming in and I’m going to join this team.’ That has not happened as of this point.”
The Steelers kicked off Organized Team Activities (OTAs) last Tuesday.
