Adam Schefter Sheds Light On Steelers’ Patience For Aaron Rodgers

Pittsburgh seems to be all-in on Rodgers

The Steelers apparently have put all of their eggs into Aaron Rodgers’ basket.

You didn’t need to be a football expert to reach this conclusion. Pittsburgh didn’t sign any of the best quarterbacks available in free agency this offseason, and it waited until the sixth round to take a signal-caller in this year’s draft. At this point, it’s tough to argue that there’s a QB depth chart in the NFL worse than the trio of Mason Rudolph, Skylar Thompson and Will Howard.

Thus, it sure seems like Mike Tomlin and company are willing to operate on whatever timeline works for Rodgers. ESPN’s Adam Schefter indicated as much when he joined “Get Up” on Tuesday.

“It’s May 27, and their first game is not until Sept. 7th when they play the New York Jets,” Schefter said, as transcribed by Sports Illustrated. “So I would say they’re willing to wait until Sept. 7th.”

All signs point to Rodgers taking his talents to Pittsburgh in the near future. However, the four-time NFL MVP hadn’t signed with the team when it opened up its first slate of organized team activities.

Steelers brass might be fine with the 41-year-old taking his sweet time to make a decision, but multiple former Pittsburgh players, including one of the best in franchise history, aren’t cool with the delay.
