Pirates Leader Praises Clutch Hitting, Potential Of This Slugger

'I think Pittsburgh's very lucky to have him'

One day after hitting two home runs to help the Pirates defeat the Milwaukee Brewers, Pittsburgh star Oneil Cruz was instrumental in helping the club pick up back-to-back wins.

Cruz recorded two hits, including a go-ahead RBI triple, to propel the host Pirates to a 2-1 victory over the Brewers on Saturday afternoon at PNC Park.

“He has every tool in the game, so it’s still coming out,” Pirates shortstop Isiah Kiner-Falefa told reporters of Cruz after the game, per SportsNet Pittsburgh. “He has a higher ceiling, and I think Pittsburgh’s very lucky to have him and hopefully, he can if he can stay on the trajectory, who knows, Hall of Fame, one of the best Dominican players ever.

“I always remind him every day how great he can be. I’m excited to see him grow and get better. I think he’s looking great in center field, and he’s doing a great job all around, carrying the team.”

The Pirates won four of their last five games. Kiner-Falefa is ready for Pittsburgh to continue to build off the last two wins.

“Two in a row. It feels good to win,” Kiner-Falefa said. “Hopefully, we can build some type of culture, winning culture, and build off this. It’s nice a little momentum. And it’ll be nice to get the series win tomorrow.”
