Dak Prescott is looking forward to having George Pickens at his disposal.
“I’m excited,” the Cowboys quarterback said on Dallas radio station 1310 The Ticket last week, as transcribed by NFL.com. “You turn on the tape, you see a guy that can catch the football. You put the football anywhere in his vicinity, very strong hands, more than a 50-50 catcher. He thinks it’s his ball when it’s in the air. I’m excited for him.”
The Cowboys acquired Pickens from the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for a third-round pick and a late-round pick swap. Pickens, who enters his final year under contract, reportedly ran stale in Pittsburgh. Steelers general manager Omar Khan said the organization felt it was in the best interest of both parties to go their separate ways, while head coach Mike Tomlin reportedly pushed for the trade.
Dallas, meanwhile, entered the offseason needing a complement for wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, and Prescott feels the Cowboys found that in Pickens.
“I know we needed some help at that position,” Prescott said. “I know that CeeDee needed some help. I think when you have a guy (Pickens) like that, it’s hard to double-team two guys.”

Pickens caught 174 balls on 293 targets for 2,841 yards and 12 touchdowns in 48 games with the Steelers. However, even Steelers fans will admit he never played with a quarterback of Prescott’s caliber, and that could unlock the 2022 second-round pick as he enters a contract year.
