The Pittsburgh Steelers moved on from veteran defensive tackle Montravius Adams by cutting him late last month.
And now Adams is in position to join one of Pittsburgh’s divisional rivals. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Adams took a free-agent visit to the Cincinatti Bengals on Monday.
Adams played three-plus seasons for the Steelers but saw his playing time significantly decrease last season. After playing in a career-high 48% of the team’s defensive snaps in 2023, Adams dropped down to 27% this past season.
Adams totaled just one sack and 14 tackles last season in 11 games and finished his time with the Steelers with 72 tackles.
The Bengals could use more help on the defensive line as they were a bottom-five defense in points per game in the AFC last season. Strengthening the unit up front for the Bengals is key given the stellar rushing attacks in the division. The Ravens averaged an NFL-best 187.6 rushing yards per game in 2024 and the Steelers put forth a solid 127.4 rushing yards per game.

If Adams decides to stay in the AFC North and sign with the Bengals, he’ll get two shots at revenge against the Steelers next season, coming in Week 7 at Cincinatti before a showdown at Acrisure Stadium in Week 11.
