The Steelers seem to be staying busy trying to upgrade the offense.
Pittsburgh traded wide receiver George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys. That left DK Metcalf as the No. 1 pass-catcher, but that doesn’t mean Mike Tomlin’s side is satisfied with the position group.
According to Nick Farabaugh of PennLive, the Steelers called the New Orleans Saints about Chris Olave’s availability. However, the call about the 24-year-old was described “as a due diligence call.”
“In addition, sources tell PennLive that New Orleans does not seem interested in trading Olave. As of this (Friday) morning, nothing is close to a trade or imminent,” Farabaugh wrote.
Derek Carr announced his retirement, which leaves the Saints with few sure options at quarterback. The Steelers’ call might be gauging New Orleans’ interest in parting ways with talented players like Olave to open the option for tanking. That could be tough for new head coach Kellen Moore, but Pittsburgh does seem to be trying to help whoever the starting quarterback might be.
